The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation was honored as the recipient of the 2016 Charles A. Sanders Life Sciences Award, which was accepted by Dr. James Marks, the Foundation’s Executive Vice President.

Dr. Marks’ storied career in cancer, beginning with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), then as Chairman of C-Change, and now as Executive Vice President of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). Throughout his career, Dr. Marks has advanced systematic ways to prevent and detect many diseases, including cancer. He has also helped shape growth plans for the Project Data Sphere® initiative, strengthening the link between patient level data and research with direct health improvement outcomes.

RWJF is celebrated worldwide for doing “the next right thing” and for their support for grant recipients as investments in the future, including its support for the CEO Cancer Gold Standard™, the Project Data Sphere initiative and ultimately, for helping others to understand how the CEO Roundtable on Cancer’s work provides a bold foundation for building a “Culture of Health.”
